Asbestos Surveys

Duratech360 provides highly qualified US EPA-qualified and accredited professionals to perform comprehensive asbestos assessment surveys in accordance with current regulatory and industry standards. The asbestos containing material (ACM) inspections are performed in accordance with US EPA requirements of the Asbestos Hazard Emergency Response Act (AHERA) and the Asbestos School Hazard Abatement Reauthorization Act (ASHARA). Our Asbestos Surveys include:

  • Review and analysis of existing blue prints and as-built drawings
  • Sample collection at suspected ACM locations
  • Laboratory analysis by Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) protocol of accessible suspected ACM
  • Assessment of miscellaneous asbestos materials
  • Identification, locations and quantities of ACM
  • Remediation cost estimates.

Where can I find asbestos?

Because of its fiber strength, heat resistance, and durability, asbestos has been used in a variety of building construction materials for insulation and as a fire retardant. Asbestos was also used in a wide range of manufactured goods, including building materials (roofing shingles, ceiling and floor tiles, paper products, and asbestos cement products), friction products (automobile clutch, brake, and transmission parts), heat-resistant fabrics, packaging, gaskets, and coatings.  If your facility or home was built before 1979, your flocked acoustic ceiling (also called “popcorn”) has a high probability of asbestos content. Since the 1978 ban allowed acoustical installers to use up asbestos inventories, the remaining material was used in houses built as recently as 1986.
